The main attraction for this variety pack is that it is advertising itself to be “zero sugar”. There are all approximately 10 chocolates in each of the pack, which makes the grand total of the variety pack give you about thirty small sized chocolates.First the science on “Zero Sugar”. If you’re wondering how Hershey managed to make chocolates with zero sugar and look at the ingredient, the main sweetener is Maltitol, which is another carbohydrate but slightly less harmful than, say, cane sugar. So, Thus this zero sugar version is not totally devoid of carbohydrates altogether. That said, if you are cleared to consume this sweetener over sugar, then this variety pack can certainly enable you to indulge a little bit.Next, let’s talk about the taste. Like all artificially sweetened products when you eat this chocolate, it’s quite clear that this is not made from sugar. As a matter fact, this chocolate tends to melt a bit quickly than the ones made with regular sugar. The sweetener also leaves a slight aftertaste, but not in a particularly bad manner. So from a pure taste perspective, it’s probably quite compatible to the originals made with sugar. Of the three packs we have here, the caramel one certainly stood out as one of the best, and the classic was the second best in my view. The dark Chocolate was probably the one that least resembled the mainstream version. But on the whole, I found the taste to be quite good there by making this pack easily passing the taste test.Now let’s talk about the other big elephant in the room. Is the price OK? Here’s where there may be some debate on what is a reasonable price for this product. In my view the price is relatively high for a product that may even be considered somewhat of Luxury.So on Balance, I think this is a reasonably good substitute for those who cannot consume any sugar, but can take this version of the sweetener (Maltitol) used in this variety pack. For those reasons, I am happy to give this product four stars.
