This unit is not Sturdy because unlike the HEAVIER DUTY models this model does not have the "screw" that is used to join (splice) each of the 2 post segments together. Which is why it is not rated as sturdy.To solve the problem, I joined each of the 2 short post segments together as instructed to make the four single full height posts. Next, I took a 2-to-3-inch piece of clear "Shipping" (NOT cellophane) tape and rolled it around the post at the splice where the 2 segments joined. You cannot even see the tape if done carefully and neatly.After assembly I can now lift the entire shelf by the posts without the post separating. And the unit is sturdy for my needs. You still need to respect the mfr's per shelf weight limit.Hope this helps.
