This is a lovely salt. It is harvested in a migratory bird reserve where they protect, study and promote the conservation of the migratory birds. I have to because the food industry doesn't, neither does the government. This is ideal for what I wanted and needAs you have probably guessed, I bought this to use in cleaning my cast iron fry pans. All the advice I found recommended using Kosher salt to scrub cast iron, due to the larger crystal size. And they were right - it works great for that. I also use it when salting the water for making pasta, as I get a better feel for how much I'm adding since I can see it better. And I didn't need a couple of pounds of it, so this size container has an ideal amount to have around. Since my cast iron is in good condition, I estimate this bottle will last me for about a year or so, which beats having to buy a box with enough to last the rest of my lifetime.And as for the three ratings Amazon asks for, other than saltiness, there is no flavor to speak of. As I said, the packaging is great, and I have no idea what sheerness is, but Amazon insists on giving it some rating so five stars it is.Very high qualityYa need your salt in small chunks to really sink in with as much surface as the granulation can get. Thing is, when your marbling (fat) melts in the high temps, you'll lose lots of the salt flavor EXCEPT when you've put on a chunky lil rock that got absorbed by as much of the meat as possible.THEN, my friend, you end up with a nice, crunchy sear on the outside and a KICK-up of the beef flavor within.Go with this'n here. I'm loyal to it and I'm known for my tender innards with that flame-kissed exterior that IN NO WAY reeks of an insecure grillmaster who oversalted in case somethin' went wrong.Having real issues with Morton's Coarse kosher salt. I am exploring options and this has great flavor and consistent crystal size where Morton's has been all over the map. I especially like this for season meats. A a former chef I worked with Morton's my entire adult life until recently when the granule size became erratic. Could be easier to pour but I am quickly getting use to seasoning with a pinch here or there from the salt bowl. I say yes.
